Health

Health and wellness are integral components of our mission at KYRO. Our initiatives encompass various programs dedicated to sexual and reproductive health, emotional support, and sports. We extend these programs to primary and secondary schools, providing a platform for both boys and girls to unite on an equal playing field. Through these activities, participants learn about gender norms and dynamics of power, utilizing sports as a powerful tool for confidence-building and fostering teamwork.

PATHWAY TO POWER - SPORT FOR HEALTH & YOUTH ENGAGEMENT At KYRO, we recognize that addressing the issue of gender equality requires collaboration with boys as well. Through our School Partnership Program, we engage with boys and girls in Senior 4 and 5 (grade 10 and 11), utilizing soccer and sports as tools for meaningful engagement. More than 250 students from four local secondary schools convene bi-weekly to play together and gain insights into their health, child rights, and the importance of respectful interactions between boys and girls. KYRO staff have undertaken the training of 8 teacher mentors in schools, imparting student engagement techniques and learner-centered pedagogy. These mentors are vital in facilitating lessons and implementing the HEALTH program alongside KYRO staff.
